Hundreds of alumni from around the world gathered at the University of California, San Diego last week to hear from the graduates who have created some of the most beautiful and unique artworks in the United States and around the world.

In my opinion, we still do not have an authentic Iranian street art movement, most of them only copy what is produced in the US and Europe. Ghalamdar believes that moving away from established international styles and exploring Iranian art will help revive, if not create, Iran's domestic graffiti scene.

While the majority of artists working in Iran are heavily influenced by motifs and techniques popular outside Iran, Ghalamdar is inspired by what is endemic in the calligraphic painting of miniature painting, Negari, an art form similar to that of modernist and postmodern art in the US and Europe. The Iranian street art movement can be revived by engaging with modernists or postmodernisms who are dedicated to Iranian themes. Some of these artists reproduce traditional and modern binaries, but I think they all show the same kind of creativity in their work and don't necessarily change the message or forms of graffiti. While the minority of artists working in Iran, who are closely connected with modern art as well as modernism, are strongly influenced by themes and themes from the United States, Europe and other parts of the world and by the motif and technique that have become popular within and outside Iranian art. Although the majority of artists working in Iran have been heavily influenced by the tropics and motifs and methods are spread outside and within Iran, GhalamDar is inspired by miniature paintings and Negargsari, which are a kind of artistic expression of a traditional but nevertheless modern style within the traditional art style.

A1one was one of the first artists to experiment with Perso - Arabic script - and Saqqakhaneh, another artist, inspired Ghalamdar directly to question the aesthetic he developed as a distinct Iranian marker. Very few other contemporary artists have expressed themselves through their engagement with the calligraphic and figurative art of Iran. I think it's a great start, but this kind of street art has not been done in Iran for quite some time.

In the late 2000s, artists like A1one and Icy Sot gained recognition, and several galleries in Iran began to exhibit their works. Iranian artists have had the opportunity to organize and collaborate with each other through social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, YouTube, etc., and have found virtual spaces to document and exhibit some of their works worldwide.

Tehran University is a university in Tehran, and its influence is particularly strong in the field of art education, especially in its department of arts and humanities.
